Civil Advocacy
Ed has a busy civil court practice in the County Court in Fast Track and Multi Track personal injury matters. Aside from Ed’s personal injury court practice, he regularly appears in the County Court in Landlord and Tenant, general contractual disputes and hearings in relation to costs. Ed is instructed by police authorities in applications for cash seizures under the Proceeds of Crime Act and general civil litgation arising from policing matters.
Triubnals and Inquests
Ed has a rapidly developing employment practice. Ed has appeared in tribunals for both Claimants and Respondents involving issues ranging from unfair dismissal to discrimination. Ed has advised local authorities in relation to such issues.
Ed frequently appears before the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal around the country. He has a particular interest in this area of work. Ed has represented numerous families at inquests.
Drafting and Advisory Work
Ed’s paper based practice is primarily focused upon personal injury and landlord and tenant disputes, but he has experience of drafting statements of case in a broad range of civil matters. He has lectured for a leading international insurer on the effective response to civil claims.
Family
Ed acts for local authorities in public law proceedings in the County Court, the Principal Registry of the Family Division and the High Court. In private law, he has acted for applicant and respondent parents in contact and residence disputes. Ed advises extensively in relation to ancillary relief proceedings including: interim applications for maintenance; variation of orders; prevention of disposition hearings and final hearings and wider TLATA related issues.
Ed has appeared in the Magistrates' and Crown court dealing with a range of criminal matters. Prior to joining Chambers, Ed worked for a leading firm of criminal defence solicitors.
