Personal Injury
Kate developed a keen interest in all aspects of personal injury as pupil to Chris Stephenson.
As an advocate she has quickly gained considerable experience of trials and applications in the County Court. Kate also has experience of appearing in related tribunals such as the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, Social Security Appeals Tribunal and Coroners' Court.
Kate also regularly provides advice, both written and in conference, on a wide range of issues relating to liability, quantum, evidence and procedure.
Other Civil
Kate appears on behalf of private individuals and companies in range of contractual, landlord and tenant and road traffic disputes.
Criminal
Kate appears for both the prosecution and defence in the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts at all stages of the criminal process to trial, sentence and appeal.
B v Regina (2010, Croydon Crown Court) - Kate successfully appealed conviction and sentence on three harassment and assault charges with two complainants.
Kate is a CPS Grade 1 Prosecutor and regularly instructed by other prosecuting government departments.
Police Law
Kate is committed to extending her Police Law practice. She regularly appears in the High Court to represent constabularies in cases where issues of disclosure and public interest immunity arise.
She also has experience of appearing in the Magistrates’ Court in civil order applications.
Family Law
Public
Kate regularly appears on behalf of Local Authorities and Parents in public law care cases from the FPC to the High Court.
Private
Kate appears for individuals in child contact / residence disputes, matrimonial disputes and ancillary relief proceedings.
