Civil Law
Catherine regularly advises and represents both Claimants and Defendant in a broad range of civil law disputes. Catherine has considerable experience in all areas of personal injury litigation including employers' liability, occupiers' liability, road traffic accidents and highway cases. Catherine is regularly instructed by trade unions to represent Claimants who have suffered accidents at work. Catherine also appears before the Coroner's Courts at inquests particularly in relation to asbestos related diseases and road traffic accidents.
Catherine has a particular interest in employment law and represents both Claimants and Respondents at Tribunal. Her practice includes unfair dismissal, discrimination, transfer of undertakings and breach of contract. Catherine has successfully represented appellants before the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
Catherine is also regularly instructed in contract disputes and property cases, particularly landlord and tenant disputes.
Catherine undertakes work for the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis and Hertfordshire Constabulary including applications for closure orders and disclosure work.
Criminal Law
Catherine regularly appears in the Crown Courts and Magistrates' Courts. She frequently defends but also prosecutes for the CPS, Department of Work and Pensions and other prosecuting authorities.
Catherine has experience of cases involving a wide range of offences including violence, supply of drugs, fraud, serious public disorder and dishonesty.
Family Law
Catherine undertakes both public and private family law work. She regularly appears in the Family Proceedings Courts, County Courts, the Principal Registry and the High Court. She represents Local Authorities, Parents and Children's Guardians.
Employment Law
Catherine has a rapidly developing employment practice. She has appeared before Employment Tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
Before Joining Chambers
Catherine worked for specialists in harassment, Lawson Cruttenden & Co which gave her invaluable experience of civil harassment law. Since joining chambers Catherine has continued to undertake harassment cases.
