Edwin Buckett became a member of chambers in 1990 following pupillage with Duncan MacLeod. In the same year, he was a Pegasus Scholar (Inner Temple) to Toronto, Canada where he worked for a commercial law firm. He is a civil practitioner whose practice encompasses:

High Court professional negligence claim against solicitors who had conduct of a CICA claim. Successfully defeated the claim following a 3 day trial before Mr Justice Coulson.
Kidd-v-Portsmouth City Council  All E.R.(D) 60 CA Negligence claim against the local authority who were responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of a public playpark where a child lost the sight of one eye.

Most of the police work undertaken by Edwin comes from police services. In the main, his work consists of civil actions, inquests, applications for judicial review, disciplinary hearings and police led applications for civil orders. He has frequently lectured on matters of police law and has sat as an Advisor to Police Disciplinary Panels (2004 and 2008 Regulation cases) in addition to acting as Independent Counsel in respect of matters of Legal Privilege.
Edwin co-authored Clayton & Tomlinson's "Civil Actions Against The Police" (Sweet & Maxwell) 3rd Edition 2004 and "Preventative Orders" (Law Society Publishing) 2010.
An Informer-v-A Chief Constable  CA 27.2.2012 Acted for the Defendant in respect of a claim for damages brought by a CHIS. Successfully defeated the claim following a trial before Wyn Williams J in the High Court and on appeal with Lord Faulks QC.
