Specialising in advocacy in the civil and family courts, Laura has built up an established and busy practice since gaining tenancy at 9 Gough Square in 2010. Laura is a confident and adaptable advocate who strikes the balance between tenacity before the tribunal and pragmatism in advising clients. She is often praised by lay and professional clients alike for her ability to give clear, practical advice whilst always remaining professional and approachable. She has advocated in both the High Court and Court of Appeal.
She has considerable experience in all aspects of civil litigation, advising and advocating on behalf of claimants and defendants in all areas of personal injury claims. Laura’s practice includes drafting pleadings and advising on complex issues of liability, quantum and procedure. In addition Laura is broadening her expertise in asbestos claims having spent 15 months specialising in this area prior to pupillage. She has previously assisted with the Kemp and Kemp chapter on Low Value Road Traffic Accident Claims and the Part 8 procedure.
Laura's family practice continues to go from strength to strength: she is regularly instructed by local authorities and parents alike in relation to complex public law proceedings involving international and jurisdictional issues as well as vulnerable parents and children with special needs. She has experience of advising local authorities in relation to the cross over of this area of public law proceedings and Court of protection work and is keen to expand her practice in these areas. She has been recognised for her down to earth and pragmatic approach to sensitive and often emotionally stressful situations for parents. Laura is keen to expand her practice on behalf of children. Laura is experienced in representing parties in all aspects of financial relief proceedings, from first appointment to contested final hearings. She is an author on the practitioner text The PLO Explained.

She is regularly instructed in relation to road traffic accidents (including LVI and allegations of fraud), highway claims, product liability, occupiers' and employers' liability and systemic abuse claim. She has experience representing at inquests and she has regular success appealing decisions of the CICA. Industrial disease work is an expanding practice area for Laura who is particularly keen to represent Claimants with asbestos related injuries.

Laura is a well regarded member of the family team representing clients in all areas of public and private family law matters, as well as financial relief. Laura has a particular interest in Court of Protection work and is keen to develop this aspect of her practice.
Local authorities, parents and children’s guardians instruct Laura at all stages of public law proceedings, in particular, care proceedings. She has extensive knowledge of issues involving substance misuse, sexual abuse, psychiatric illness and complex medical issues, including causation. She is experienced in cross examining experts and has acted in cases involving suspected non accidental injury and fabricated and induced illness. Adoption proceedings and placement of children both in England and abroad regularly feature in her practice.
Laura known for giving practical, straight forward, focussed advice whilst maintaining the necessary sensitivity when dealing with public law proceedings. Additionally she has been instructed to advise on issues of disclosure, specifically, but limited to, Public Interest Immunity.
Private law proceedings involving residency, contact, occupation and injunctive order feature regularly in Laura’s family practice. With considerable experience in financial relief, Laura is familiar in conducting all stages of proceedings. She strikes the balance between a forensic approach when compiling schedules of assets and a human approach when dealing with clients and opponents alike. Laura has provided written advises on financial relief proceedings and is able to keep her client’s longer term goals at the forefront of her mind. She has conducted final hearings involving issues of unreasonable conduct and alleged fraud.
In addition to her rapidly expanding PI practice, Laura has experience of professional and clinical negligence matters. She has appeared in relation to several commercial disputes as well as bankruptcy claims. She regularly represents in the county court in relation to Landlord and tenant disputes, private contract claims and costs only disputes.
