Overview:

Elizabeth has a busy practice across all of Chambers' specialisms and appears in court on a daily basis. Due to her varied practice, regular court attendance and the range of tribunals that she has appeared in front of, Elizabeth is fast becoming a trusted and sought-after advocate and is comfortable accepting instructions in new areas of law.

Alongside her court appearances, Elizabeth has a thriving paper-based practice, providing advice and drafting statements of case in fast-track and multi-track civil proceedings.

Prior to becoming a barrister, Elizabeth worked at the Department of Energy and Climate Change where she oversaw the implementation of EU legislation, drafted ministerial speeches and met foreign delegations to discuss the UK’s energy policy.

Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys music festivals, skiing and cycling.

Personal Injury & Civil Litigation:

Elizabeth regularly advises and appears in fast-track and multi-track personal injury claims on behalf of Claimants and Defendants. Elizabeth has experience across the full range of personal injury work and has been instructed in a number of employer’s liability cases with statements of value in excess of £100,000. Elizabeth has a particular interest in product liability claims and has recently advised in relation to defective cosmetics, cars and greenhouses.

Elizabeth has represented bereaved families at inquests and is currently instructed in an Article 2 inquest arising from the suicide of a hospital patient.

In addition to personal injury work, Elizabeth frequently appears in possession claims and contractual disputes in the county court. 

Crime & Police:

Elizabeth is currently working with the Designated Lawyer's (DL) Team within the Metropolitan Police Service in relation to the Undercover Policing Inquiry. Elizabeth’s responsibilities include the preparation of restriction order applications seeking protection of the real and cover names of former undercover police officers and consideration of potential conflicts of interest that might arise within the officers represented by the DL Team.

Elizabeth is also frequently instructed to represent police forces and has experience of dealing with POCA proceedings, Sexual Harm Prevention Orders, closure orders, PII applications and proceedings under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

Elizabeth regularly prosecutes for the Crown Prosecution Service on the South Eastern Circuit and undertakes Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court defence work. Elizabeth has recently secured a favourable outcome for a client facing committal proceedings for contempt of court in the Crown Court.

Family & Court of Protection:

Elizabeth is primarily instructed in public child law proceedings and acts on behalf of local authorities, parents and children’s guardians. She has advised and appeared in cases concerning non-accidental injury, child abuse, substance misuse (including cases allocated to the Family, Drug and Alcohol Court), child and parental disability, overseas placements and jurisdictional issues.

Elizabeth is also frequently instructed to represent police forces and has experience of dealing with POCA proceedings, Sexual Harm Prevention Orders, closure orders, PII applications and proceedings under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

Elizabeth is keen to develop her Court of Protection Practice and has recently appeared in the High Court to obtain a deprivation of liberty order on behalf of a local authority.
