Stuart McKechnie QC settles cases for over £25.5 million in September 2018
In the month of September, Stuart McKechnie QC has settled 4 cases for a combined figure of £25.5 million.
The cases all involved adult claimants who had sustained various catastrophic injuries including severe TBI, tetraplegia, below knee amputation and below knee amputation + brachial plexus injury. In every case a compromise was reached on the applicable discount rate to reflect a likely trial date in late 2019 / early 2020. In the 2 most serious cases PPOs were not available because of lack of reasonable security. Three of the cases were settled at JSM and one through ongoing negotiation. One of the settlements, involving a protected party, has since been approved at the RCJ.
Stuart had 1 further JSM in September where agreement could not be reached and that case continues.
