Tom Little QC appears before the Lord Chief Justice as an amicus curiae
Tom Little QC appears today in the Court of Appeal in front of the Lord Chief Justice as an amicus curiae. Given the jurisdictional issues that arise the Registrar of Criminal Appeals asked the Attorney General to appoint an amicus curiae (now known as an advocate to the Court) to assist the Court with its powers.
As a result Tom Little QC was appointed. In particular the Court will consider the jurisdictional conditions precedent under section 58 of the Criminal Justice Act 2003 and whether they must be given in open court or whether an email is sufficient.
